Fitted new heater, but still not heating up?

I have a hotpoint ctd80. Had an f10 error on it which when looked on web said was thermostat. I brought a new heater as the old old looked past it sell by date. Fitted it easy as it was only a push in plug. M/c now runs without error but does not heat up
