If you use the search box on this page you might find a question of December 2010 in which Alan R gets much praise for his helpful answer. This is what he wrote....

First reset the fire by switching it off at its own on/off switch, and the mains switch at the socket.
Next reset the remote: undo the Philips screw on the back and prize ip the circuit board, then turn it over, keeping the battery in place. There is a slide switch on the back; move it all the way to the left, pause, then all the way to the right, pause again (10 seconds) then move it about a third of the way to the left until it drops into a detente. Carefully reassemble, keeping the battery in place. If this doesn't work, you probably need a new circuit board (receiver) in the fire. Probably costs about £60. Good luck.
