03 corsa sxi springs ?

Hi, I have a 03 corsa sxi and having had front springs changed 3 time in 4years, I now have another one broken.
A mechanic friend has said its possible to use springs from a diesel corsa as they are more sturdy..does anybody now if its possible and does it affect ride height/handling in any way.

i have a lot of road humps all around me causing this damage.
