Mend Ryobi CLM250LSMS

safety guard on CLM250LSMS?

Why wont the safety guard operate when i use the saw. The guard is supposed to lift when i pull the saw arm down exposing the blade, but when i pull the arm down the guard stays in place so the blade is never exposed.
