white knight eco 43a gas dryer?

My dryer is not heating. the ignition clicks the light comes on but after a few seconds of trying to light it gives up. The drum turns and everything else remains normal apart from the lack of heat. It started out as an intermittent fault but now is permanent.
any help would be appreciated.
