Thanks Andy, but I have tried that. I have removed both the grey and the black hoses to the pump as well as the electrical connector (yesterday). There is no blockage along either hose. I also stripped the pump into its two piece and removed the impeller. There was some sludge in there so I thoiught a clean out of that would solve the problem, alas no.
On further analysis it seems that due to the machine not draining the old water from the first part of the cycle is causing the machine to completely stop and not continue into the rinse cycle. I think I have resigned myself to the fact it needs a replacement pump, which fortunately I have located for around £40 inc delivery. Unless of course another response solves the issue before I purchase!
