vectra 2L LS DTI 2001 ECOTECH?

Mark's on the right lines, I'd suspect the EGR. However, when I had this problem it was partially the glowplugs, and partially a critical engine fault!!! I paniced, then I consulted the internet. Try checking all the vacuum pipes and connectors. One of mine, for the inlet manifold pressure valve, had a split in the rubber boot. Fixed that and touch wood it seems to be ok now.

the possible problem may well be you have a valve on the engine that recycles the exhaust gasses (ege or ega)if this sicks this can cause problems ,i forget the name now of it, a cat can cause strange problems as well (on the exhaust) or air getting in to the diesel system , you need to get the on board computer checked to see if the valve is the problem.hope this helps.thay will charge for this at vauxhall.sorry
