Dryer not working, hotpoint washer dryer 1100 model wd51?

the dryer as stopped working anyone have an idea on whats gone wrong

My Hotpoint condensor dryer starts off fine but after about 2 minutes it stops and an error message stating the water tank is full comes on. The tank however is empty. Any ideas?

If not drying it is a thermal cut out most probably. Some makes have a reset button. others such as hotpoint have one shot stats which will need replacing(about £10-£15). It is easy to do but a continuity tester is handy to check if it is the stat, you should get continuity through the two connections on it(make sure it is turned off first). If stat is fine it is the element which is about £20 -£30. If changing or resetting the stat clear out any build up of fluff you see as it may be the reason it stopped working.

Hi Graham,

Funny enough, we had the same problem tonight on our Servis washer/dryer. I removed the top of it (it is held on by two screws on the back) and there is a clearly visible red button. Pushed this down and it worked fine (I think it is some sort of thermal/overload cutout). Failing this, on your Hotpoint, if it is an old machine, it could be the element (does the water heat when it is washing ?). I know we have a different model, but the principle is the same, you should be able to reset the "cutout".
