upstairs taps?

hi , i have was wondering why the upstairs cold taps and toilets are not mains pressure they are fed by the big tank in the loft, i can understand the tank feeding the hot water cylinder for the hot taps, but why are the toilets and cold fed by the tank rather than mains pressure. all my cod taps, toilets ,ect downstairs are mains pressure.

i have pump showers upstair which are great and effective no problem there, just the toilets take some time to refill funnily enough cold tap pressure which is fed by the tank seem to better than every other cold tap upstairs, anyway cheers

Because the plumber that piped it would not have thought about it being from the header tank and just picked up the nearest cold feed

balancing now that rings a bell, that must be why they are fed by the tank so the hot and cold are balanced. that makes sense. but i dont why the toilets are not mains fed. thanks anyway

Thats how it was done in the dark days before television, the bath tap was fed by a 3/4" pipe and was first in line and then the sink by a 1/2" pipe,I don't know if was for ease or for balance, nowadays there is no tank in the roof because it's either a combi boiler or a high pressure tank [much more convenient] If you decide to upgrade your bathroom I should consider factoring altering the pipework as well
