Strobe flash?

The strobe on bell-box is giving a single flash-pulse every eight seconds, but my securit800l shows nothing out of the ordinary.Anyone have any ideas why?.

Your very welcome Mr Blight :)

Just remember to keep yor fingers away from the strobe as the voltage if touched packs a punch.

Be safe and good luck :)

Thanks emanno that kinda makes sence as i was in our recently boarded out loft moving some heavy boxes of old books up there, the problem seemed to stem from there.at least now i know the fault and so i thank you for your help and patience.thank you.

Ok Winston I hear you :)

You have a short on the wiring from the panel to the sounder.

The st- is the trigger wire for the strobe so it's shorting out and causing the strobe to activate then the sounder goes into strobe saver mode after 45mins or so,hence the single flash per eight sec's.

Suggest you either find out what could of damaged the cable run and where, repair or replace the run.

Have you had any work done lately or done any diy?.

Anyway the fault lies with the wiring NOT the sounder.

On removing the yellow st- at the bell-box the strobe ceased flashing, but on re-connection it started up again. It rapidly flashes for an hour then reverts to one single flash per eight seconds, could not reset it either.I have heard that water ingress may have damaged the electronics,do you think the way forward is a new bell-box?.thanks again for your help emanno.

Hi emanno thanks for your help yesterday, have now removed the st- from the bell-box,texecom which stopped the strobe but on re-connection the strobe started flashing.re.connected the wire back at the alarm and tried resetting to no avail, that was quite late last night so i left it,this morning it's back to one single flash per eight seconds.I have heard of water ingress causing faults on bell-boxes is this a possible cause and do i need a replacement.

Either a short on the wiring or a fault with the sab.

Remove the ST- wire this time at the sounder.

If it stops then there's a wiring short,if not then the sounder/sab is at fault.

Remove mains power from the panel and remove the lid.

You will get tamper alarm so just put your code in then check for any trapped wires. If all appears cool then remove the ST- wire from the sounder's terminals and see if it stops.

Thanks, tried re-setting to no avail, not sure on the make of bell but the two green lights at the bottom are doing as they always have,so nothing out of the ordinary there. The alarm system is not armed but in day mode at present. Can also add the alarm is operating normally, also the strobe flashes as it should when we trigger the alarm.
