zafira v reg not firing up and starting after keys reset?

new batteries put in both keys, used blue tack open and locing now fine. my mate did some thing with the keys in the ignition they then started the car . went to start it later nothing just turned over not wanting to fire up . dont no what he did apart from turn key back an forth and thats all i no took about 10 secs to make each one work.
