For a garage yes. I used to do it myself but the parts are so inexpensive and a good garage will do them quickly so I don't find it worth my while doing them myself anymore. If you have to jack up the car yourself, underdo the bottom suspension balljoint, hub nut etc to get at the end of the drive shaft it can be a right pain - especially if done outside in wintertime.
I'd leave it to your local garage if they have a good reputation.
If you want to have a go yourself you'll need a jack, axle stands (or similar), decent tools including a socket set, torque wrench and a special cone for sliding the cv joint boot into place. Oh, and the best part of a short winter's morning or afternoon (or both if you get stuck) and a good workshop manual such as Haynes.
