Mend Mountfield Lawn Mower Engine Carburetor

mountfield mower / briggs & stratton engine?

my neighbours mountfield mower with a briggs & stratton engine has a running problem i have replaced the plug and cleaned out the air filter which was solid. i have put some carb cleaner in and it will now fire up but as soon as that has run out it stops again, the primer is working.
any tips please.

I also want to know how to set the points [ if they have them these days ] melplatt@lineone.net

I have downloaded spares list from BS but there is no reference to the ignition.
