The revs don't fall as quickly as should on vauxhall cav MIII i?

When I take my foot of the accelerator the revs fall but not as quickly as usual, they don't fall commpletetly when changing gear. I've heard that it may be a valve that needs cleaning in the injection system. How do I do that? L reg vauxhall cav MIII 1.8i.

Sorry. I meant to say. rule out the sticky cable etc first.

Also does this only happen when your car get's warm?

Hi. I have this problem on my veccy.

The idle valve does take a bashing on the vectra in particular because of a little breather hole getting blocked in the throttle body, thus making the idle valve control do all the work. seems to be a common vauxhal problem but this would cause cutting out at juctions and/ or erratic revs!

I am led to believe that our problem lies with the maf sensor not doing it's job properly. That doesn't mean go out and buy a new one cause 9 times out 10 it's faulty wiring or bad earth causing it to malfunction.

Have not done this myself yet but will do it soon. Earthing a lead has to be cheaper than a new maf sensor(bout £50). specially if you don't need one:D

Hope that helps you a bit

If you have access to turn the throttle by hand try it - this way the cable will not be involved. Or unlink it to be sure.

When unlinked if it's still slow to return it may be your 'butterfly valve??' needs lubricating or cleaning. If no prob when unlinked try lubricating the cable, as the cable is probably the problem.

could just be your throttle cable sticking
