Mend Citroën Xsara Clutch Gearbox Linkage

xsara clutch?

further to my recent question,mechanic said linkage seemed ok,still having trouble getting 1st to 2nd very notchy,is there n e thing else apart from clutch or gearbox that could be the problem ,other gears are no problem very smooth through the range,help please.
