My dishes taste of salt?

Hi,
My diplomat dishwasher makes all of my dishes taste of salt. I recently pulled the dishwasher out as the rear waste pipe was pushed against the wall and not draining, the problem started after this! The lid to the salt container does fasten fairly tightly but it will keep turning if you try to tighten it too much.
Any ideas :)
