Water overflows into the bowl,not a lot,and it sometimes doesn't overflow.I?

If Peccavi's solution doesn't work read on.


Check float ball/cup has no damage.
Try a leve 2" below the normal level for test purpose see if it does go beyond that, if so it's likely the inlet valve washer needs replacing. Don't forget to turn off the water to cistern before removing cap to access the washer.

Adjust it again - be sure to set the water level a good half inch (12mm) below the overflow pipe and be sure that after you've done adjusting that you tighten the little nylon locking nut that stops the adjustment changing.

If it still overflows after that then it can only be a defective inlet valve.
