Mend Mercedes-Benz A-Class Engine Changed Key

my alarm wont turn off, but engine starts?

i have changed the baterries in my key fob (mercedes Aclass, Xreg) and the central locking still wont work. i opened the door manually but set off the alarm, which continues to go off, but the engine starts so imobiliser chip in key is still working. any ideas?
