False engine high temp reading on citroen c3 ?

My 06 c3 randomly falsely displays engine high temp reading. The engine is not physically hot , i have had a diagnostic check done on it but all that confirmed was there had been a high temp alert, the garage put in a new temp sensor but the problem is still there!!! any ideas???
