Immobiliser on Automatic Renault Clio?

Could trying to start my car in neutral caused the immobiliser to kick in? Happened this morning, but started about an hour later, crank shaft sensor replaced 1 year ago because was having this problem of it not starting, was told to press the central locking button inside for so long but that didnt work today. How long do crank sensors last? Also could it have anything to do with leaking sunroof? Battery replaced in key same time as crank sensor replaced.
