changing of outter card cover - Renault Megane?

I have bought a new outter cover, after being told that it was easy to change.... Two hours later, totally demolished old key cover and now have the problem with 'card not detected' - looks like I have the problem with the coil everyone mentions on here (one leg has come un-soldered) but I have also noticed that the coil itself is slightly damaged (some coils broken). My question is will the broken coils make the key not work??? I will solder the leg and put back together and try, but I was just asking if there still might be a problem. Thanks in advance :0)
