Why does the start burron buzz when I press it?

When i load the dryer, and have selected the time i then press the start button and it buzzes, as if it is a warning. The filter is clean, water tank empty and condenser clean. The dryer does not always start. As a got this machine from a friend I do not have instructions for use, although I have looked at the online one. Help!
