how do we replace a door latch on an intergrated indesit dishwasher? ?

we need to replace the inside door latch mechanism on our indesit dishwasher. We purchased a new latch and followed online instructions to remove the inner panel of the door. This exposed the damaged locking mechanism, however it is not screwed onto the door as the instructions indicated it would be;it is firmly in place possibly glued or screwed from the outside. There is a wooden cabinet on the front of the dishwasher with no apparent screws in place to remove the panel so assume it has been glued.We didn't install the dishwasher and therefore unaware of history. Please help!!
