Why do my brake lights flash when I indicate left or right?

Yes it will be an earth fault. To prove this run another earth straight back to the battery {negative of course) maybe using jump leads joined together.

sounds odd but ive heard of strange things with lights when wrong bulbs are fitted or have to blown a fuse? somtimes car electrics and act strange when its trying to tell you somthing

french cars are useless,as cdc says check the light clusters for water penetration,they dont have a clue how to build a car just check online to see how many electrical probs they have useless bits of junk

I am not qualified or experienced to answer this question but that never stops me trying.... An Earth connection in a car just completes a circuit - if an Earth connection or Ground point were bad then no current would flow - i.e. something that should happen would not happen.

In your case something that should not happen - is happening.

My guess is that somebody has messed up the wiring - what had just happened to the car immediately before you noticed the problem may give you an idea.

I would check your rear bulb holders for corrosion/bad connections,bulb connections and bulbs themselves and as you say bad earths
