Ideal HE24 Isar?

i have an ideal he24 isar boiler with the fault l-9
the plummer told me i have to change the heat exchanger is that right ,i have no heating or hot water now for 5 days,is this aregular fault

check the pump its the most likely the pump. it could be a blocked heat exchanger but the plumber should be able to pick up on it.
