Mend Belling GT756 Cooker Turn Switch

Belling gt 756 gas cooker grill will not stay on?

I turn the switch on full press down the switch and press the igniter,the grill lights but no matter how long I hold it in when I let the switch out the grill goes off.By switch I mean the plastic turn on knob on the front of the cooker.
