Thanks for the insight. I did find out the machine needs a new gear. The gear cost $9.99 at one shop and $14.99 at another place. The labor to replace the gear and retiming the machine is $180.
Now that you tell me I could possibly have a similar problem with another gear later on, I'm not sure I want to get the machine fixed.
The only drawback is that I will not be able to find another machine to fit in my cabinet.
How many gears are in the Singer Stylist 413 and if they were all replaced, would it be worth it to keep the machine or am I looking at more problems with other parts?
Thanks for all of your help.
