can i reset my washing machine when it has had an unbalanced load?

Had unbalanced load. Had to switch off and use emergency release switch - after using drain hose to get rid of the water. Indicator lights say call service engineer - water in pan. Had this fault before and there was a way to reset wthout an engineer but I can't remember it
