Clicking sound on and off?

Bought 40" Samsung tv model code LA40A610A3RXX3 serial no AQ3B3MKQA00102V 3 years ago. I'm out of warranty unfortunately but the service charge for transportation cost me bomb at $155 not include the parts replacement. May I know what's the common for this kind of fault and how can I can it repair for a lesser price?

My Magnavox did/does the same thing. OK when watching but when off the click and light, not TV, came on and then in time click and light back off. I just added a plug with switch to outlet and plugged TV into that and when done watching shut it off with this switch. A little inconvienent but solves the problem very cheaply!
