Mend Starts Speed Dies

fix my mower?

mower starts fine and revs up to speed but after a few seconds at full speed it sputters and smokes and almost dies. then it revs up to full speed and does it again. It will continue to do this 4 or 5 times before it dies and has to be restarted.
