Only pitfalls I can see, are those created by yourself,largest one being, not being able to clear the tamper and reset the system.
Meaning, if the tampers are set on engineering, do you know the code?, if not then you may have to get the installer in or locate another engineer.
If you can access engineering and have full control of your system, then leave the panel in ENG mode and undertake the work, or if you prefer you can shut the whole system down.
Have a copy of the engineering manual at hand and fully test the system on completion of the work.
Maybe worth replacing the battery in the outside sounder whilst you are up there.
