Hi, I have the same problem with my mk3 golf, there is spark and fuel but wont start. Two men from the AA and a garage have looked at the car, neither of them could find the fault. Follow the steps I took to see if you can find the problem on your car, hopefully it will be simpler than mine.
If the spark is bright, it is most likely to be a fuel problem. The fuel pump may be working but if the injectors are blocked fuel will not reach the engine. If fuel is getting into your engine fine, (you can check this by removing a spark plug and smelling whether there is fuel or not), then it must be an ignition problem. Check all your wiring before you condemn a component. If you still cannot find the problem then we are both in the same boat and any other answers would be greatly appreciated!
