how can I increase the reveses on mountfield rv 150?

the rv150 engine is 4 stroke never been 2 stroke
there is a little tab that the govenor spring is attached to gently pull out to increse rpm dont over do it as these engines are prone to blowing head gaskets

Also, if you want it to run faster make a bend in the main spring connected to the carb

If it was ok, Not a case of increasing revs, Something causing it to run slow. How old is your fuel, If 2 stroke, the oil that is mixed with the petrol, can thicken in the carb, and give problems, I would strip clean the carb, But if you not up to that, remove the carb fully, and put in to a plastic container with clean petrol, leave to soak, with an occational removal to drain out, then back in again. Make sure done in open space, no flames no sparks etc any where near.
