stiff brake pedal?

when bleeding brakes on escort van the pedal is very stiff and hissing is heard when fluid is escaping from blled nipple

Ford Ford Escort Van Vehicles, Vans Brake Pedal Van

sounds like bleed nipple is partially blocked, remove it and clear out hole with stiff wire or better still a small drill bit.
