My Mac Allister 484 lawn mower wont start?

I agree - but it's possible to fit a Tecumseh coil (much cheaper and easier to find) to these engines - just need to drill and extra mounting hole in the coil laminations. Fitted about 20 so far - and not one repeat failure (indeed 15 of these coil transplants were used coils from old BVS and Vantage engines)

Of course - all this assumes you remembered to activate the 'dead man's handle' before pulling the string :)

Fitted with a GGP RV150 engine? - Yes coil has probably failed - Not uncommon at all.

Be sure that the ground lead is not shorted out and try a new plug before ordering coil unit.
