power snake attachment stuck in 4" pipe (still attached to snake)?

power snake attachment for 4" drain pipe (sharp tip,twisted/auger type) will not release and is stuck about 6-9 feet into pipe. Putting in reverse did not release, (also attempted to advance after putting in reverse, then put in reverse again, but to no avail....tugging on line, releasing and tugging again did not work, nor did manually turning the snake :( (put a few hours into it)
