MK6 Transit X Reg Fuel Gauge light n??

The fuel guage light on my X reg Transit seems to come on when I know I have fuel in it. When the engine is off, the guage goes up to what should be in the tank, but if the engine is running, the low fuel light comes on. Is this a sender unit problem? If so, How do I rplace the sender unit?
