why do my windscreen wipers stop across windscreen when switched off?

Within the wiper motor unit, there is a set of contacts, suppossedly to keep the unit powered until the blade reaches home position. The contacts must be dirty, and not making. If you open up the motor unit, around where the blade shaft is, is the contact section, clean the contacts, reassemble.
