how can I stop my st4500 home alarm from going off for no reason?

Poor panel new battery.

I don't know this panel so bear with me.

When your problems occur there must be some sort of display showing on the panel, lights or a display with words etc, we need to know what it is showing to be able to help.

What sort of sound is it making, continuous, intermittent? Does it stop as soon as you enter your code?

Answer HERE, it keeps everything together and makes it easier to follow.

Bet you have been punching in an invalid user code.Why didn't I think of that before I wrote a load of old bumff.

There's always a reason,

usually down to user error,or there's a system problem,

tell us more, so we can hopefully establish what's going on,

does this happen when the system is armed or unset or both ?,

does the keypad respond,eg can you silence the alarm immediately using your user code ?

what LEDs are lit on the panel and keypads ?,

Are any LED/s winking at you,and if so what colour?

so basically you are looking for the day,tamper,zone, LEDs that are lit, and any that are blinking.It could be a control backup battery issue,but its impossible to say on the info you have given.
