DC03 Standard - it isn't sucking up the dirt?

I've had our Dyson in bits so many times now - completely flumoxed. I've checked for suction at each of the stages - pre filter, and then through the 2nd stage filter and across to the cyclone. Without the clear dust catching base the suction is quite strong on the bottom of the yellow section, but once the bin is on and put back in place correctly - no suction at the roller or nozzle to speak of. I've checked all of the seals and they look ok, and replaced the motor. What now?

It was the upper cyclone.

while emptying the lower part, I decided to give the upper cyclone a few sharp raps on the side and a several clouds of dust appeared. I kept doing this for a few minutes and blowing the loose dust out.

when refitted to the Dyson, hey presto - full suction again!

Thanks for the answer Gordon - I was coming to the same conclusion. I can see blobs of fluff in the perforated section of the upper cyclone.

Not sure how I'm going to get it out though :-(

I've tried removing the yellow cyclone section from the upper housing but it doesn't seem to clip out or anything and I can't see any fastenings anywhere.

i can also see some dust colelction in the top section viewing through the top suction hole.

Any further thoughts?

Sounds like blocked perforations in the upper cyclone. If you have a torx screwdriver the cyclone will come apart. The whole lot can be washed out and should be good as new.
