rope won't rewind on gas string trimmer?

Bolens BL150 gas string trimmer. 5 years old. Rope will not rewind, stays out when pulled. Have taken it apart and no springs are broken and are fitted into proper slots. Could the parts on the spool be worn so that the "gizzmos" on the flywheel do not catch?
