Mend Singer 513 Sewing Started

How to repair a Singer Foot controller?

Having found that the foot controller on my Singer Sewing machine 513 has started to smoke and has been switched off.The Unit is 103439.009.

i have read a similar reply on your website and removed the surpressor and the foot control works fine.

Is it safe to use without a supressor or should it be replaced?
