hob keeps starting to work then turns off?

hi i'v got a creda concept 361e second hand was told in good faith that was in good working order but attempted to cook on it for the first time yesterday and all power supply good but when i try to cook on hob it starts to heat then turns it's self off or trips electric any answers

if its been stored an element could be damp causing your trip to trip out.Common issue after being stored.Need a test meter to find which element is causing the issue.You could try getting each element hot with a hair dryer in an attempt to solve problem.This might not work though but without test meter its difficult
