Mend Hotpoint Mistral Freezer Stopped

Can a fridge freezer cut out thermostatically?

My Hotpoint Mistral Fridge Freezer overheated and stopped working. The interior light and LED Displays work but there is no sound from compressor or fan.
I cleaned out dust from behind front grill after I noticed temps rising.
