other tunes chiming at infrequent intervals?

My doorbell chimes when someone calls, OK, then at intervals of about 3-8 hour intervals it plays other chimes including during the night. What causes this problem? I have had it for some while and some time ago I had the same problem and it appeared to sort itself out. Now it doesn't want to behave.

I take it it's one of the cordless remote mutli chimes one so just a guess it's confused so remove batteries leave them out for an hour listen for knocking if anyone calls as you will obviously have no bell.
See what happens when you replace the batteries. If that fails can't say except conact manufacturer.
