The single piston per calliper are a normal push back type, my OSR pads were 20% worn and the piston was partially seized in the housing.
The NSR were just about to touch the metal backing of the pad ( 99% ) worn with the piston seized in the calliper, this allowed the pressure of the system against the piston to push the pad against the disc but not to return so the brakes were " permanently " applied.
Both callipers were repaired so that the pistons moved freely in their housings.
I had to drive 150 miles later that day and found that the fuel mileage was much better and the auto change up and down was much smoother and did not work as hard.
So all in all I have had a big win.
