when i try to start my laguna it sounds like to starter motor is hesatating before it kicks into life, only for half a second or so. some times wont turn at all but give battery a boost and then it works but still hesatates. I think starter is fu-fued but need advice before the hassle of changing it or getting new batt.
many thanks, Bit the bullet and got new starter as it was cheaper then i thought it would be. great fun fitting it! only the french could put it somewhere totally inaccessable. Problem now gone away

battery is knackered, don't charge it,get a new one . to prove it,get a battery from a working car and swap

Does the starter motor turn sluggishly?
Some vehicles do have a delay operating the starter (our LDV Maxus van does)
Some renaults have starter problems due to corroded/loose connections to the starter solenoid which can cause intermittent failure to turn the starter.
