Hi Bob,
I spoke with a repair tech about the same problem. He said that the problem is likely either a fuse (first choice) or the heating element itself (second choice). Apparently, if you take it apart the fuse is inside and can be replaced, although it may require soldering.
I haven't seen the fuse yet myself so I don't know if it's an off-the-shelf item.
