How can i fix the alarm on my 60`s METAMEC clock?

Just purchased a lovely pink METAMEC from the 60's
All OK, BUT alarm will only buzz VERY quietly. When turned upside down, the sound is much louder as it should be. Also when I pat the button that turns the hands, the buzz gets louder. Can I repair this myself? Would appreciate help.
