front door wont open from inside, works fine from outside, any ideas?

Nissan Nissan Almera Tino Vehicles, Cars Nissan Door Almera

There a wire rod running from the lock mechanism to the handle. This goes into an hole on the plastic door handle. Guess: the plastic is broken. You'd need to take the door trim off and have a look. Not a horrendous job. Steps are in the Tino manual
